Just another Golden day

Lots of toys.  Lots of noise.  And the new year begins.  After a busy holiday, I was happy to “veg” out on the couch with Daddy on New Years Day.  We watched people on tv running around on a big green field.   All the people dressed alike but some were in different colors than others.  They played all day, but didn’t seem to ever really learn the game.  Sometimes they would actually catch the ball, but they never brought it back!  They just kept running away.  I’m much better at the game than they are, but I didn’t say anything.  I was polite.

If you missed my Christmas card on my website, click here  to see it.    Hope you can find all my toys!  And you can also see the note my good friend Tucker sent back to me (with a little help from his Mom) if you click here.

goldens in the snow

‘Tis the season for giving, and all through the house
All the Goldens were playing with a little toy mouse.
They suddenly stopped by the picture window
And laughed at the sight of the new fallen snow.
Running and racing to the front door they came,
Ready to play a great golden snow game.
Bounding through drifts they looked so very cute
As they chased all around in random pursuit.
Such a sight to behold – a true golden treasure
A golden retriever – there is no greater pleasure.
These Goldens are rescues and so very dear
They would love a new home by the end of the year.
It’s the best gift of all, for yourself and for them—
A golden retriever gives again and again.
No shipping, no wrapping, no trips to the mall
Just a heart wrapped in fur to be enjoyed by all.

If you’d like to help my brothers and sisters find their forever homes, go to http://www.dvgrr.org to donate or adopt.  WOOF!

IMG_1804So, I’ve been thinking about deer, especially reindeer.  Every year (AFTER Christmas, of course) the deer shed their antlers.  But what happens to those antlers?  Where do they go?  Well, I know where some of them go.  And if you take a look at the picture, you can see where one is right now.   DON’T WORRY!  This antler is NOT one from Santa’s reindeer.  They all have their antlers and are ready to go.

Every year, after the antlers are shed, the workers gather them up, cut them into smaller pieces and clean them.  Then they are ready to be shipped to all the good dogs, like me.  And Mom says the antlers have calcium and phosphorous and that’s good for me (who cares).  And she says they don’t splinter (she makes it sound like that would be bad).  All I know is they’re great chewing and that’s the most important thing to me!   As soon as those deer start shedding again, you can get antlerz too, just keep watching the online store at www.dvgrr.org - they’ll be getting them soon.  Put “Get Antlerz” first on your New Year’s Resolution List.

pretty boy2aWOOF!  And so begins my life as a blogger.   Now that I am busy with my store, I don’t have as much time to create whole web pages.  So this blog will work perfectly to keep you up to date with all my activities.  By the way if you want to visit my store, click on over to www.GoldenGreetings.org .  You’re going to recognize that handsome guy over there!

As you know, I LOVE the snow, but living in San Diego has it’s limits.  So the first thing I did was put some nice falling snow on my blog.  Mom thinks this snow is the best kind – it’s not cold and you don’t have to shovel it.    Personally, I like the deep mounds of it that you can roll around in and stick your face in.

I’m new at this blogging stuff, so if you want to help me out, go ahead and send me comments.  Mom will read them all to me, but if I don’t like them, I will eat them.
